Reprinted With Permission — Check Out the Rest at Color of Magic Review
Terry Pratchett starts out his Discworld series with this amazingly funny and adventurous tale, “The Color of Magic.” More than 80 million copies of this story have been sold all around the world since it was first published in 1983. (For you burgeoning writers like me out there, even though he wrote these awesome stories and got them published, he didn’t go full-time
until four years later!)
Without getting into spoilers, because this book is something you should experience for yourself, the story follows a bumbling tourist, Twoflower, around Ankh-Morpork and the surrounding countryside. Rincewind, a failed mage who is rather bumbling himself but in an entirely different way, becomes his reluctant tour guide and protector.
Perhaps the real hero of the story is the trunk though. You’ll have to read it to find out why.
Would I recommend this book?
You bet your sapient pear wood I would.
